Forklift Training Reassessments

Print PDF

Stirling Skills Training offers reduced costs for participants who are not successful on their first attempt and wish to be reassessed for the forklift operator licence.

For participants who successfully completed the written assessment, but were assessed "not yet competent" for the practical assessment, the cost of re-doing the practical assessment is $80.

For participants who need to re-do both the written and practical assessment, the reassessment cost is $224. This is a reduction on the normal course fee, which is $320.

In cases where participants are not successful on the first assessment, our assessor will explain the options available and will provide comprehensive feedback on the areas where further work is required so that the participant can prepare for the re-assessment.

As of 1 September 2011, we will be increasing the price of some of our Forklift Training Courses.

We try hard to keep prices as low as possible, but we need to review our prices from time to time to take account of increased costs. There has not been any increase in our Forklift Course pricing for more than 2 years.

The new prices for our regular on-site courses are as follows:

  • The new price for the full forklift course will be $320.
  • The new price for the Recognition of Prior Learning Course will be $160.
  • The price for the Saturday Course for Experienced Operators will remain unchanged at $250.

All bookings made before 1 September 2011 will be charged at the current (lower) price.

Stirling Skills Trainer Phill Roberts wins Malaga's Employee of the Year Award

Print PDF

Our Forklift Trainer, Phill Roberts, has been honoured with the Employee of the Year Award from the Malaga and Districts Business Association.

Phill Roberts
Our Chairperson Kate Dempster congratulates Phill on receiving the Employee of the Year Award.

The Employee of the Year Award was presented as part of the Association's Annual Business Excellence Awards, and we are all very proud of Phill's achievement.

Stirling Skills Training had nominated Phill for the Award in recognition of his dedication to our organisation and our clients over many years, and also his excellent work in redesigning our forklift training to better meet the needs of trainees and businesses.

In congratulating Phill on receiving the Award, Stirling Skills Chairperson Kate Dempster said Phill's achievements had been outstanding in 3 key areas:

  • Innovation in the design and delivery of training;
  • Commitment to customer service; and
  • Dedication to the organisation and our mission.

In redesigning the forklift training program, Phill restructured the learning sessions so that we can deliver the course in less time and for less cost to our clients. By reducing class sizes to half of the previous maximum number, we can now deliver the course in 1 day (previously 2 days were required) -- while ensuring that students continue to receive the same amount of one-to-one training and practise on the forklift as before. This means that busineses now only have to release their employees for 1 day to complete the course, and we have also been able to reduce the cost of the training to our clients.

Phill's commitment to customer service is evident through the patience and thoroughness he displays with the training. Although he will never pass a student unless he is 100% sure they are able to competently and safely operate a forklift, he will take time and care to assist students develop the knowledge and skills they need to pass the course. Phill often travels to businesses to do on-site training and has developed very positive relationships with our key clients.

Phill has been a tower of strength for Stirling Skills Training. Throughout major restructuring and some very difficult times, Phill has always been a very positive and supportive team member, and has made sure our core business of forklift training has been delivered effectively all the time. Phill’s commitment to our organisation’s mission – providing training to help people get jobs and improve their careers – is demonstrated on a daily basis. His supportive approach as a trainer and his depth of experience in the industry helps us ensure that we consistently apply our customer service values.

Stirling Skills Training greatly appreciates the work of the Malaga and Districts Business Association does in promoting business excellence in the local community. The Business Excellence Awards are a really important part of this  work, and we congratulate MDBA's Excecutive Officer Anthea Tsakisiris, President Rod Henderson and all the members of the Committee for putting together such a successful event.

Forklift Training: Requirements for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Print PDF

We have recently reviewed the requirements for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the Forklift Operator National High Risk Licence.

In order to make absolutely certain that RPL assessments comply with all relevant standards and the expectations of WorkSafe WA (the regulatory body responsible for issuing the National Licence) we are moving to clarify the requirements for documenting prior qualifications and experience.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is only available to participants who have an expired Certificate of Competency or forklift ticket, which must have been issued by a Registered Training Organisation in Australia.
  • All participants seeking RPL will need to provide the expired Certificate of Competency or forklift ticket. We will need to take a copy as evidence of having sighted the document.
  • Applicants will also need to complete an Evidence Declaration to verify their level of recent experience.

Participants who do not have an expired Certificate of Competency or forklift ticket would need to undertake the full course.

If you have any questions about these requirements, please call us on (08) 6460 7559.
